Reconsidering Tom Cruise & Travolta

A Mormon looks at Scientology & Psychiatry

I am a Mormon

I drink alcohol

Yesterday I had the chance to tour the Museum at the CCHR

-
This was founded by the church of Scientology and a prominent intellectual (1969)
-
Many of my friends and clients know I was raised a Mormon, but was also an "anti-Mormon" from 1988-1993
-
I have been thinking about Tom Cruise and his appearance on NBC with Matt Lauer ("You're Glib Matt")
-
Like many, I was turned off by the apparent arrogance and even hubris. But what if Tom was right ?

I have been thinking about this for a very long time. Having been diagnosed at Stanford as "BiPolar".......well....
The truth is that I might have enjoyed the title. It gives one a reason to be freakish and "different".
Am I "BiPolar" ?
-
Maybe
-
There is also the possibility that I might simply be like my mother, Kay Frances Strong Elton. "ENERGETIC"
-
I have long held the opinion that Scientology is inherently selfish and self-celebratory. An ode to your own brain.
This might be partly true, although I will take my time before coming to a conclusion. I do, however, think that my
suppositions and assumptions....in the past, it is quite possible I have been wrong. VERY WRONG.
-
When Tom Cruise and John Travolta appear on "Oprah", they seem decent and good men. But also a little cocky. Ego driven.
Is that a fair assessment ?
~Maybe~
Then again.....maybe not

Maybe I have been arrogant....thinking I might have all the answers (I Don't, trust me...ask my wife) (-:

The truth is out there

Maybe the answer to religion is below....

An all-star team

MORMONISM (family focus, work ethic, discipline, education & honesty
CATHOLICISM (Tradition, history, architecture)
SCIENTOLOGY (intellectual honesty and focus on "clarity" of mind...and ethics)
CHRISTIANITY (Jesus Christ, need I say more ?).....I have always wanted to be "Born Again" (too stubborn/doubting Tommy)
MUSLIM (devotion, discipline)
JEWISH (ethics, education, disciline)
BUDDHIST (focus on peace and smooth inner creaminess) (-:
YOGINANDA (still learning about this from Thomas and Patti)
-

Now the negatives
-

Mormons are uptight
Jewish faith is insular
Catholics are blind to the Popes silly hat
Scientology...still learning (seems to "ME..ME")
Buddhist...like stoners...would not want them next to me in a bunker
Muslim....too many psycho bombers...they hate women
