ESSAY.....after a Day of SHAME ! (April 2013)

OBAMA is right and my Republican party is SO WRONG.
NEVER have I been so embarrassed by my own GOP.
LIES and prevarication are all that the NRA is now
about as we look toward a more dangerous future.

I was diagnosed as "Bipolar" while studying the Law
at Stanford in 1986. I am someone who should NEVER
own a gun. I hate that fact, but I think about it
when I see my therapist....or when I write an essay
about mental illness and what it means to be living
with a mental disorder. I should never own a gun and
it is so easy for me to get one...or 5. The so-called
"Gun Show Loophole" makes us all less secure as the
vast hordes of homeless and mentally ill people roam
the streets, sometimes with loaded guns. This is not
good.

The second amendment was a good thing when it was
originally written. NOW, however, it needs to be revisited
as we, as a country, try to solve complex issues of
both freedom and security. Every person should have
the capacity to keep themselves and their family safe.
BUT NOT the mentally ill. Not repeat felons.

In three years I will likely run for congress and I
will spend a portion of a trust fund meant for making
the world a better place with more honest leaders. I
will never accept a donation from the NRA. Not now.
NOT EVER. They are dangerous and I am their enemy.

I have other methods that can keep me safe. I am a very
potentially hostile and impulsive man. When I play guitar
and imbibe old grapes, I become even more dangerous.
Mentally ill people should NEVER own a gun. Period !
President Obama is right. My Republican party is WRONG !
End of statement, end of lecture...The sadness begins anew.
